We offer behind-the-wheel driving lessons to students with a permit or license and adults over 18 in the following counties: Asheville/Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, and Yancey. The driving instructor will provide the car. If interested, please use the form below and we will have a driver contact you to coordinate.

  • Must be over 18 years of age

  • Must have a learner's permit from the NCDMV or a valid drivers license from another state or country

  • NCDMV practice test questions for permit can be found here

  • Instruction must be provided in a Mountain Professional's specially-equipped vehicle under the supervision of a certified DPI/DMV instructor

  • A minimum of two hours behind-the-wheel training is required - the fee is $95/hour and payable online in advance once scheduled

  • Additional hours can be arranged

  • Current time frame for scheduling is 2-4 weeks

**Scheduling Policy: Students/Adults must provide at least 24 hours notice to instructors to cancel, or re-schedule an in-car session. Instructors will attempt to accommodate in-car instruction times that are acceptable for both instructor and student/adult. However, if a mutual time frame cannot be set, the student/adult may be reassigned to a different instructor and likely incur a wait period. A record shall be kept for cancellations, or re-schedules and after two, the student/adult will be marked as a “No Show”. One ”No Show” will remand the student to the back of the instructor's current list, and they will be given a 2nd opportunity to drive at a later date. Two “No Shows” without 24 hour notice will result in the student/adult being considered to have quit the program and the student will not be issued a Course Completion Certificate, adults may forfeit the fee for that session.
